The Tegel family of rugs designed by David Chipperfield draws its inspiration from the historic buildings at the Kasthall headquarters and factory in Kinna, Sweden. The project represents a homage to the extraordinary knowledge and culture contained within these walls, handed down from generation to generation by the people who work there with such passion and dedication.

The beautiful colours and unexpected variations evident in the bricks of the different buildings marked by the passage of time, inspired a palette composed of natural and earthy tones.

The design was defined by studying the way rugs are actually used, in particular the way they are often overlapped in living environments. The different colours come together in a series of layers of different sizes and alignments.

The Tegel rugs are crafted from wool, which gives depth, warmth and volume, and linen, which adds a discrete, vibrant note to the overall texture.

The three distinct patterns, Corner, Side and Centre, express different spatial configurations that affect the perception of the surroundings in a variety of ways and encourage innovative solutions for organizing the space.
