扎哈 · 哈迪德建筑事务所（ZHA）是当今世界上最有影响力的建筑事务所之一，也是建筑 界的领军团队。自 1979年成立以来，  ZHA一直在探索建筑艺术的边界，推动着建筑设计 和建造技术的不断进步。他们的作品充满了流线型、动态和未来感，融合了设计和建造 技术的进步，同时也注重环境可持续性和人类福祉。  ZHA的建筑作品遍布全球，包括广 州歌剧院、伦敦奥运会水上运动中心、意大利罗马二十一世纪美术馆等，这些作品都被 誉为当代建筑的经典之作。  ZHA始终坚持创新和探索的精神，不断挑战传统的建筑设计 和建造方式，为世界带来了许多令人惊叹的建筑杰作。

在ZHA 北京办公室成立 15 周年，来到中国实践20 周年之际，一场名为 “THE   NEW WORLD 未来之境”的展览在北京嘉德艺术中心开幕，展览展示了他们开创性的项目、研 究成果和对未来世界的畅想。我们如何深度理解新时代的趋势？在中国实践20年间，  14 个落成项目和25个在建项目，  ZHA是如何同时进行和落成这些项目？带着这些问题，国 际权威地产与设计媒体 — 设计腕儿在THE NEW WORLD未来之境”展览现场，特别专访 了ZHA中国区总监大桥谕，他与我们分享了对当下行业内的洞见和在中国的历程。

Q1.

THE NEW WORLD 的构想最早源于Zaha Hadid 在1983对当时建筑学时代 背景的表述, “技术快速发展” 、“生活方式不断变化 ”，40年过去了，  ZHA对当 下所处的时代有哪些新的理解？提出了哪些新的理念、创造了哪些新的方 法？

The concept of THE NEW WORLD was first introduced by Zaha Hadid in 1983  in  response  to  the   rapidly  changing  technological   and   lifestyle landscape of the time.

Now, 40 years  later,  what  new  understandings  does  ZHA  have for the current era? What new ideas, methods, and concepts have been proposed or implemented?

“THE   NEW  WORLD”这个概念，最早在1983年通过扎哈的一张油画《The World》提出：现代科技和人们多变的生活方式，会对建筑产生很大的影响。她 认为，我们需要再次探究现代主义进程中没有被尝试过的创新实验：不是将其单 一再现，而是在此基础上探索新的可能性。  40年后，我们再度同扎哈一起思考、 感知“THE NEW WORLD”，并且反思我们如何将周边的科技、创新运用到我们的 工作中，不忘身为建筑师的责任，创造更符合人们生活方式的建筑。

在快速发展的科技和社会环境中，  ZHA提出了许多新的理念和方法，以适应这个 变化万千的时代。其中，数字化技术、机器人技术、3D打印、人工智能和虚拟现 实等技术的应用，是我们在建筑设计和建造方面的一大创新。利用这些技术，  ZHA不断提高设计和建造的效率，减少建筑对环境的影响，同时提高建筑的性能 和使用体验。此外，  ZHA还注重可持续性和人类福祉，响应如“ 自然系统 ” 、“生态 城市”等理念，以实现建筑、人类与环境的和谐共生。

The concept of "THE NEW WORLD" originated from a painting by Zaha Hadid in 1983 called "The World." The painting depicted how technology's rapid development and our ever-changing lifestyles have created a fundamentally new and exhilarating backdrop for  architecture.  As  architects,  we   must 

  reinvestigate   untested   research   and experiments done  in  the  modern  era,  not  by  copying  them,  but  by  extending  that research to examine what's possible. After 40 years, it's time for us to rethink and be aware of "THE NEW WORLD," questioning how to use these technologies in our work to respond to the changing environment and responsibilities for the world.

To address the increased complexities of our environment and an upcoming digital world, ZHA has came up with 

many new ideas and innovations, such as new digital design tools, robotics, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality. We integrate these new technologies into our design and construction process to ensure that our architecture matches better with its environments and creates a better and more joyful space  for   its  users.  ZHA  also   emphasizes  sustainability   and  human  well-being, responding to ideals such as "natural systems" and "ecological cities" to achieve a harmonious coexistence between architectures, humans, and the environment.

Q2.

ZHA在中国的建筑实践是本次展览的重要组成部分，在您的领导下，  ZHA 中国从一个项目到目前的14个已建成项目，  25个在建项目，在设计管理    上，有哪些可以分享的经验？

ZHA's  architectural  projects  in  China  are  an  essential  part  of  this exhibition.  Under your  leadership, ZHA China  has developed from one project to  14  projects  completed  and  25  projects  ongoing.  In  terms of design management, what experiences can you share with us?

我认为在设计项目中，好的业主会起到非常大的积极作用，顺畅的沟通与共同的 愿景让我们能够共同打造一个优秀的项目：这些客户往往也希望为城市创造很大 价值、解决一些非常有趣问题，这使一切皆为可能。建立良好的客户关系，也是 很重要的，通过过往经验有中我们有组织的工作安排，让客户们信任我们，并以 ZHA参与设计而自豪。

“想要成功，你必须来到现场，远程办公是行不通的。  ”在ZHA第一次开始广州歌剧 院的项目实践时，我这样对扎哈说。所以，  2008年，我们正式成立了北京的办公 室。从内部管理来说，团队中的每个人都应有一种凝聚的热情，一种设计和创造 的精神力量。在项目进行时，大家会给每一个情景体验设立对应的价值，我认为 这也是ZHA的文化DNA 。同时，善于发现不同人的才能也是很重要的，让团队在 不同的项目中充分发挥自己的才能，与各地团队共同努力，找到最合适的团队协 作方式。

I completely agree that having good clients is crucial for a successful project. Good clients often have a positive impact on the final project as they are invested in creating value for their city and solving interesting problems in the area to the best of their abilities. Building 

a good relationship with clients is also critical as it helps to establish trust and confidence in our ability to deliver the best results. When clients are proud of our work, it is a testament to the strong relationship we have built with them and the quality of work we have delivered.

“If you want to expand and become successful, you have to be here, you can’t do it remotely,” I spoke to Zaha when we first 

come to China with the Guangzhou Opera House, so in 2008 we opened our office in Beijing.

Internally,  our  office  is  all  about  having  a  collective  spirit  of  passion,  design,  and creativity that brings us together. Our team is motivated to create something special for each project or situation, and I believe that is the cultural DNA of ZHA. Ultimately, I think it's important to 

understand what each person can do to build the best team and work with other offices around the world.

ZHA一直活跃在世界上重要的建筑和艺术展览上，比如威尼斯双年展，也 推出了元宇宙的虚拟展览，  ZHA持续向社会输出的价值是什么？本次展览 希望向观众表达和传递什么？

In the Venice Biennale this year, ZHA has launched virtual exhibitions in the Metaverse. What societal value does ZHA continue

 to deliver? And what is the main idea of this exhibition?

本次展览“未来之境” 旨在向观众表达ZHA对未来世界的探索与想象，展示ZHA在数 字化技术、机器人技术、3D打印、人工智能和虚拟现实等领域的创新应用，以及 我们在可持续性和人类福祉方面的探索和实践。展览探讨了ZHA在信息丰富和社 交密集的元宇宙中的新虚拟建筑，希望能够增强全球范围内的交流和协作。

同时，展览也希望向观众传递一种新的建筑理念 —— 建筑与环境的和谐共生，以 及数字化技术在建筑设计和建造中的应用，这些都是ZHA持续输出的价值。除了 实现每一个项目不同的客制化需求与目标，还要从历史、地理、和理性出发，持 续为城市思考一个更长远的宏图，为其城市创造更人性化的空间。

通过这次展览，  ZHA希望能够激发人们对未来建筑发展的思考，并为未来的建筑 设计和建造提供新的思路和方法。比如我们展出了被我称为“The   Performer”的3D 打印机器臂，他需要持续工作三个月来制造一些特殊的“砖块” 。这些“砖块” 随后将 成为“Digital Wall数字墙”的一部分，好比一个数字长城。“The Performer”用不同的 数据和算法“建造”着数字墙，最终在墙上你会看到北京市的地图，这个项目展示了 利用新工具的可能性。

We  are  excited  to  share  our  vision  of  the  future  world  with  everyone  through  this exhibition. The "THE NEW WORLD" exhibition is focused on exploring our imagination of the future world by revisiting ZHA's detailed research and multidisciplinary approach. We  want  to  showcase  how  new  digital  design  tools,  robotics,  3D  printing,  artificial intelligence, and virtual reality are changing the way we design and construct buildings. These  new  technologies  are  helping  us  to  reduce  the  environmental  impact  while enhancing the performance and sustainability of each building. In addition, the exhibition also explores ZHA's new virtual architecture within the Metaverse, which is information- rich and socially engaging. This new virtual architecture enhances communication and collaboration around the world.

The exhibition also aims to convey a new architectural concept to the audience - the harmonious  coexistence  between  architecture  and  the  environment,  as  well  as  the application  of  digital  technology   in   architectural  design   and  construction.   Besides meeting the customized needs and goals of each project, we also strive to think about a bigger picture of the city from historical, geographical, and rational perspectives. We aim to create more humanized spaces for the city through our designs.

Through this  exhibition, ZHA hopes to  inspire  people  to  think  about  the future  and provide new ideas and methods for future architectural design and construction. For example, we showcased "The Performer," a 3D printing robotic arm that works full-time for three months to manufacture special "bricks." These "bricks" will become part of the "Digital Wall," which is like a digital Great Wall. "The Performer" uses different data and algorithms to "build" the digital wall, and in the end, you can see a map of Beijing on the wall. This project demonstrates the possibilities of using new tools in architecture.

针对嘉德艺术中心的空间特色，  “THE NEW WORLD 未来之境”在展陈设 计上有什么亮点，塑造了什么样的展览体验？

What  are  the  highlights  of  this  exhibition?  What  kind  of  exhibition experience has been created?

整个展览的呈现方式，模拟了我们面前的新世界图景，这是我们共同生活并分享 的家园。展览中新加入的参展体验 ——“Flow map”，也是我们在建筑研究领域中 新的延展。它基于自然界的有机流动和人类的城市生活经验，是一种容易被忽视 的流动性。它可以是地下交通网络，可以是管道电力或者水利系统，它可以是一 条穿越城市的河流，也可以代表着流动的人口或是资本。

这些因素正对建筑和设计产生影响，我们加入这个展览环节，意图双重模拟出这 一特点。展览中，观众跟随着“Flow map”在ZHA设计的建筑间游走。现实中，建 筑也再次对环境的流动做出回应。我们必须要回应周遭的环境，这正是ZHA的设 计方法。

与观者产生互动，是展览中尤为重要的一个巧思，与仅停留在“观看” 的观展方式  更增加了“互动”与“感受” 。实际上，观者能切身体会到四周的流动。就像在城市   中，你在某处也可以体会到城市的运动 ——是车流、人流，甚至是风 ……展览的 设计就是为了让你与这种“流动感”互感，我想这便是展览与众不同的地方。

The presentation of the entire exhibition simulates the new world we are facing, which  is our shared home. We created a new exhibition experience called "Flow Map", which is also a new extension in the field of architectural research. It is based on the organic  flow in nature and the urban lifestyle of humans. It can be presented as an

underground transportation network, a pipeline for electricity or water, a river running through the city, or even represent the flow of people or capital.

These factors are having an impact on architecture and design, and we have added

this exhibit to simulate this characteristic. In the exhibition, the audience follows the

"Flow Map" to walk around the buildings designed by ZHA. In reality, the buildings also

respond to the flow of the environment. We must respond to the surrounding environment, which is ZHA's design method.

Interacting with the audience is a particularly important concept in the exhibition, which increases "interaction" and "sensory experience" compared to just "watching" the

exhibition. In fact, viewers can experience the flow around them. Just like in the city,

you can feel the movement of the city in a certain place - whether it is traffic, crowd, or even wind. The design of the exhibition is to allow you to feel this "flow" and I think this is what makes the exhibition unique.

Q5.

ZHA不仅在建筑设计上极富创造力，一些交叉学科的部门比如Code、 VR 、AI， 是如何从建筑设计中生长出来，并拓宽了设计的边界？

ZHA  is  not  only  highly  creative  in  architectural  design,  but  also  has interdisciplinary departments such as Code, VR, and AI. How have these departments  grown  out  of  architecture  design  and  expanded  the boundaries of design?

ZHA团队一直在探索“设计无界” 这个概念的边界，总是在打破规则、审度所有的 可能性。我们在除建筑设计以外的领域不断延伸，并将它们与日常的生活联结在 一起。世界瞬息万变，日益复杂，万物互联的当下，理解一件事物的复杂性需要 基于大量的研究与调查，并在跨学科的团队中去交流，讨论出新的创新方式与感 受方式，再将结论回归到设计和构思过程中。

这激励我们不遗余力地推动设计进入下一阶段 —— 长久地思考“ 下一步是什么” 。 我认为这便是ZHA团队能够一直走在行业前沿并长期活跃的秘密。我们的设计之 所以有足够迷人的吸引力，是因为团队总有能力推动那条“边界线” ，创造出带来 价值的新项目。

我认为这是ZHA的文化基因，它开始于Zaha Hadid的早期，延续至今，并将会持 续在未来得到印证。我们将打造出这一幅新世界的图景，并与所有人分享。这便 是本次展览的意义所在。

The ZHA team has always been exploring the boundaries of the concept of "design without   boundaries,"  always   breaking   rules   and   exploring   all   possibilities.  We constantly extend beyond the field of architectural design and connect them with daily life.  In  today's  ever-changing  and  increasingly  complex  world,  understanding  the complexity  requires  a  lot  of  research  and  investigation,  and  

communication  in interdisciplinary teams to discuss new innovative ways and perspectives, and then

bring the conclusions back to the design and conceptualization process.

This motivates us to push design into the next stage - to think about "what's next" in the long run. I think this is the secret behind ZHA's ability to stay at the forefront of the industry and remain active for a long time. Our designs are attractive because the team always has the ability to push that "boundary" and create new projects that bring

value.

I think this  is the cultural gene of ZHA, which  began  in  Zaha  Hadid's  early  days,

continues to this day, and will continue to be confirmed in the future. We will create a

new worldview and share it with everyone. This is the significance of this exhibition.

ZHA在住宅、家居、时尚、出行等生活领域，设计了很多具有流动性的作 品，极大的拓展了人们对生活的想象，请谈谈您对生活方式的独到见解。

ZHA has designed many projects with fluidity in residence, home, fashion, and  transportation.  Cloud  you   please  share  with   us  your   unique perspective of lifestyle?

我认为我们开发的所有工具，出发点是为了人类的福祉。作为建筑师和开发者，  如何更好地驾驭工具是我们需要思考的。  ZHA一直重视公共性，在这个基础上，  让大家聚合在一起，为人们、为用户创造更好的生活方式，让彼此产生联结，互 相欣赏，在地打造出更棒的文化。

本次的展览，我们想分享知识和经验，为观众们展现ZHA多年来如何对待设计和 建筑。这将成为我们不断革新、不断想象的动力，带来鼓舞人的灵感。希望前来 参观的人们能够享受他们的体验，这是我们所期待的。

I believe that all the tools we develop are aimed at the good of humanity. As architects and developers, we need to think about how to better control these tools. ZHA has always valued the public, 

and based on this idea, it brings people together to create better lifestyles for people and connect with

 each other, appreciate each other, and create better culture on the ground. In this exhibition, we want to share knowledge and experience and show the audience how ZHA has been designed and constructed over the years. This will be the 

driving force for our continuous innovation and imagination, bringing inspiration. We hope that people who come to visit can enjoy their experience, which is what we expect.
