VOA设计公司于2012年通过国际竞标赢得位于房山高端制造业基地的北京中关村新材料与产业技术研究院的项目。历时三年的设计与建造目前此项目已经完美竣工。

　　VOA won the Beijing New Material Research and Technology Institute through an international design competition in 2012. It took 3 years in the design and construction, recently the project is completed.

　　北京新材料研究院创造了一系列的相互连接的花园将研发社区，生活社区和公共社区连成一体，建立了一个“花园中的学院”。整体规划中吸取了中国传统的院落的布局，将传统的中国庭院空间和现代的科研办公完美的结合起来。

　　Beijing New Materials R&D Center creates a campus of inter-connected courtyards that seamlessly integrate the community of office, living and research and development space to create an environment of “Scholarship in the Garden.” The design combines the methods used in the historical courtyard palaces, temples and traditional Chinese spaces with a modern interpretation that engages the contemporary scientific community.

　　新材料研究院定位为国家级实验开发园区，将成为国家新材料领域开发的一个重要平台。整个园区分成两部分，南侧为研究院区，包括了12个研究所， 研究所中心围绕这一个国际会议中心，为各个科研机构提供了学术交流，国际报告及会议的场所。会议中心和研究院围合出来两个庭院，竹园和水园,为科学家提供了放松和思考的室外场所。北侧为专家生活区，两侧为专家公寓楼，中间围绕专家活动中心，为研究院的科研人员提供了餐饮，健身，医疗和图书馆等一系列的活动空间。南北两区由一条中心水景连成一体。

　　Beijing New Materials R&D Center as the national research and development center will be the important role in the new material R&D field. The whole campus includes two sections, the south parcel is the R&D section, includes 12 research lab and office buildings with the international conference building at the center of the development. The conference center will provide the campus with the academic exchange spaces and the auditorium for the intentional lecture and the conference. The bamboo garden and the water garden were created in-between these building to give the scientist a place to relax and enjoy.  The north parcel includes the researcher’s apartment and the club which provide the F&B, fitness, healthcare and the library space for the community. The central water feature connected both south and north parcel together.
